"Music Temple" is a temple of Jodo sect. It is located in Murakuno town, and possesses the twelve god images sculptured by Enku.
It is said that the temple was established by a Buddhist monk, Genei in 1184.
The texture tiles of Nara, Heian period and many other historical properties were discovered from the land.

In 1992, with reconstruction of the Yakushi hall and the goddess of mercy hall, a investigation team was formed for thorough research, and the team found many more properties.

It is said that Enku sculptured 120,000 Buddhist images in his life. Sixteen statues, which were curved by Enku, and possessed by this Music Temple, were specified as the cultural properties of the city. Those were all curved from the timber sent afloat down Kiso River. Those are called, "Yakushi-nyorai", "Sunlight Bodhisattva image", "Moonlight Bodhisattva image", and "Twelve gods image". They are about 70 cm high and all highly esteemed.
