It took five years to build Mandara Temple from 1324 to 1329. That was the time when emperor Godaigo conquered the Shogunate government took back political power. The temple was established to pray for good luck and prosperity for the new nation and for the joy of the people and for good harvest and for the repose of maytyrs' soul. It was specified as an imperial temple by the 105 generation of Gonara emperor.

The hall was dedicated by a ruler of Awa district, Hachisuga Iemasa in1632 to thank for the education he got in the temple when he were young. The hall is for State Ceremonies and the gate is Chinese. (Cultural property of the nation)

Korean Bell
Korean Bell
This bell is commonly called as "Korean Bell", which was given by Korea at the time of Korean War which Hideyoshi Toyotomi commanded. Its caliber is 31 cm, and the height is 47 cm. There is a handle of the chime in the top, and there are a dragon winded its body in S shape and a flag. (Culture property of the nation)


According to the record, Nobunaga Oda contributed this musk to Mandara Temple in 1563. According to "Bukou-yawa" this musk was used then he had a all night unceremonious dancing party at Ikoma's mansion. (Culture property of the city)

Mida cherry tree

Mida cherry tree
This tree is growing behind the study of Mandara Temple and it is said to be 300 years old. It is exceptionally large as for an early-flowering cherry tree. People call it "the Mida cherry tree" because of its beautiful and noble figure. Every year around beginning of April it blooms excellent flower and delights people come to see it.
Since the tree was getting weaker a little, it had treatment by a tree doctor as cutting a trunk in the upper part by about 3 meters in. (Culture property of the city)
