Kyusho Temple

　Kyusho Temple was originally called Zenki Temple, and changed its name to Ryutoku Temple. Ikoma family moved to this area from Yamato district in Onin era, and made this temple as their family temple to warship their ancestors.

　Kitsuno, (a younger sister of the 4th generation, Ienaga) was loved by Nobunaga and became his concubine. She gave birth to Nobutada, Nobukatsu, and Gotoku, however, she was doing badly after childbirth, died in May 13, 1566, at the young age of 29.

　In that year, she was enshrined in this temple. The name of temple was changed to "Kyusho Temple" which was named after her Buddhist name.

　Nobukatsu, Nobunaga and Kitsuno's son was given a village from Nobunaga in return of taking care of this temple and Kitsuno's soul. So he equipped the temple and surrounding area and worshiped ancestors. The temple area was magnificent with 10 pagodas of related temple such as the Hannya Temple, and five branch temples

　There is a graveyard of Ikoma family on the west side of the precincts and Kitsuno's tombstone is there, too. On the tombstone, an epigraph is written as follow; "she was a concubine of Nobunaga Oda, a daughter of Ikoma, sleeping in this grave since May 13,1566". And on the backside of the tombstone, there is also an epitaph. It says; "she was a mother of three children, mother of commander Nobutada, and minister Nobukatsu, wife of Nobunaga Oda. She lived in Kori castle, and sent to heaven from family temple in Kori".
There are many more magnificent tombstones, which are rare in this area. Most of big tombstones were build after the time of 6th generation, Toshikatsu, who became the first ruler of feudal clan in the family.

　At present, the garden is equipped as Kyusho Temple Park, and serving as a memorial place of the history, at the same time, as a leisure spot for people.
