Mandara Temple Hall

 This building was built in 1632, which enshrined the principal image of Amidabha. It was contributed by the ruler of Awa district, Iemasa Hachisuka. Iemasa learnedin this temple in his childhood contributed the hall for thememory. It became a country specification culture propertyon June 1st, 1957.

The original of Bukou-yawa

Bukou-yawa

"Bukou-yawa" was found when the godown of Yoshida family broke down by a flood in 1959. It was translated into modern Japanese by a family member of Yoshida, and eventually came to public 380 years after it was written. This story is about the family history of Shouemon Maeno, a general of a turbulent age. This is composed of 21 volumes of manuscript written by an ancestor of Yoshida family, Magoshiro, together with 8 volumes of original piece written by Magoshiro's daughter, Chiyojo.

 

Enku-Buddha and Music Temple

 Enku is a Buddhist monk in early Edo period who did a lot of Buddhist image sculpture work besides missionary work. He explored simple beauty that applied to the sculptures. His work was novel one as those days. He encouraged agriculture. Since he always lived in a grotto, he was called as " grotto saint ".

 The music temple was said to be established in1184 by Buddhist priest Genei. This temple is the oldest temple in the city.

 "Murakuni no Sato Museum", which keeps large amount of Buddha image sculptures by Enku in storage opened in March 1996.

There are two walking courses to visit excursion points and places noted in connection with generals in civil war denoted in "Bukou-yawa". (The two courses are; "Nobunaga and Kitsuno" course, and "Hachisuka and Mandara Temple" course.
