Ikoma's family grave is in a tea garden on Hocho mountain, which is approximately 400m southward from Fuji mound. After passing a stone bridge, you can see the grave (a five storied pagoda) of Ienaga, the 4th generation, Kitsuno's (Nobunaga's concubine) brother, and his wife. The next one is the stone mausoleum of the 5th generation, Toshitoyo and his wife. Then the next one is the tombstone of the 10th generation, Shuho. The tomb in shape of stone mausoleum form is often seen in tombs of people in high status such as Daimyo (general), however, there is no such tomb in this neighborhood except this one. The stone mausoleum has a cone-shaped roof as regular dwelling architecture and something as stone tower is enshrined in the tomb. The two stone mausoleums belong to 5th generation, Toshitoyo and his wife. The right one belongs to Toshitoyo and the width is 123 cm, the height is 120.53 cm, and a symbol of paulownia in circle is carved on the side. The left one belongs to his wife and the width is 96 cm, the height is 120 cm. It has a symbol of double circle, which is the family crest of her parents' family.. Toshitoyo lived his retired life in this area. Since he was wishing to attain Buddhahood even before death, his son, Toshikatsu felt his father's feelings and made the tomb, which is suitable for the dwelling for a saint. On the sidewall of the stone mausoleum, the achievements of Toshitoyo and his wife was curved in Toshikatsu's hand writing. Toshitoyo served Hidetsugu since he was young, and participated in the battle of Odawara at the age of 16. After Hidetsugu's death, he served Hideyoshi. He did great work for Tokugawa army in the battle of Sekigahara. After that, he served Yoshinao Tokugawa, the master of Owari feudal clan and became the first master of feudal clan in the family. As the master, he participated in the summer battle of Osaka. He died in 1610 at the age of 96. |
