5."Ikoma mansion" was the base of Nobunaga's success in unifying the country

@Ikoma family was descendant of Fujiwara family and it was running a family business in Yamato. The battle in Onin broke out in 1467 in Kyoto in which Hosokawa troop and Yamana troop fought for 11 years and completely destroyed the surrounding area. Due to the crisis after the war,Ikoma's business became dull, therefore around 1475, Ikoma decided to move to Owari where his friend Maeno lived.
There, the business prospered and Ikoma became a powerful family of the area and built Ikoma mansion.

@The Ikoma mansion, called as Kori castle, was 370m to east and west, 540m to south and north including Kyusho Temple. The mansion was really spacious and surrounded by a moat. The only remaining of the building today is "the gate of Hiroma family" which is specified as the cultural property of the city.
Nobunaga, who wanted to unify Owari district before unifying the country, wanted to have relationship with the powerful family of the district, Ikoma family
Nobunaga wanted not only Ikoma's economic power but also its information network in the area where Imagawa troop was in charge.
