Every year on May from the last ten days in April the nation famous Wisteria
flower festival is held in Mandara Temple Park, which possesses Mandara Temple
designated as important cultural property in country.
In Mandara Temple Park, there are several Wisteria flower trees of the national
commemoration in addition to 120 Wisteria flower trees of 12 different kinds.
The sweet fragrance of Wisteria flower together with the sight of 300 stocks of tree
peony give pleasure to the people during the excursion visitor at the period of the
festival.

"The Vega Star Festival" which is made a scenic poem in the summer, is held in early
August. It starts from opening ceremony in front of Konan Station. Each shopping arcade
in the city decorates the streets to heap up the event. People can enjoy mid-summer
nights with Bon Festival dance, catching goldfish, Karaoke, and much more events in
different meeting places.

This event is held in early November in "Suitopia Konan" for the sakeof the promotion
of the commerce and industry, business and the agriculture in the city,
the commune and exchange of the citizens. There is the display and the product
exhibition of the city specialty article such as interior textile.
There are live music performances by the kindergarten kids, primary school to high
school students. And also exhibition and spot sale and evaluation of the agricultural
productions produced in the city and so on are held.

At the Mandara Temple Park, the Wisteria flower festival is held in the spring "the
chrysanthemum flower exhibition" is held in autumn from late October to early
November. About 5,000 bowls of chrysanthemum such as large flower and or elaborate
works of local people and primary school and junior high school students lives in the city
displayed to the ornamental two-shelf. It fascinates visitors and citizens.

The Brush Festival is held at "Kitano Tenjin (the deified spirit of Michizane) Shrine" in
late January. In the festival, climacteric ages of men in city together with new students
of the local primary school carry huge brush by pageant to Kitano Tenjin Shrine. Many
people visit this shrine to pray for improvement in studies and good luck on entering
exams to schools.
